2011 In A Nutshell

Hi guys!
So this post was originally going to be a reasonably short and undetailed, but it soon turned into a long one! I have written this simply because it is the last day of 2011 and I thought it was a good time to reflect and think over everything I have done. I hope you all had an absolutely amazing Christmas, I certainly did. My Christmas usually consists of lots of Family get togethers, Food, Presents and LOTS of giggling! If you read my last blog post you will know that December is in fact my favourite time of year, for so many reasons.

This year has definitely been one to remember, It has had it ups and downs and just like everyone's, its been a tiring one. The months have just flown by! I find it hard to believe that yet again, another year has passed and so much has happened, I have not only discovered my own strengths, but I also feel I have grown and matured as a person, no its not because I turned 16 this year, but due to so much going on and my life being pretty chaotic at times it has required me to be a little more independent and start making some serious decisions about my future.

I don't really know where to begin? As I said above, this year has been a hectic one and I have picked up a few special moments on the way that I will treasure forever, I'm willing to share these memories if you're willing to read...So here goes...

11th February. I met my idols, Gok Wan and Brix Smith Start! There are not enough words to describe just how happy and excited I was. I was literally buzzing for days after. I have been a fan of both Gok & Brix for such a longtime and when I heard they were coming to London for the filming of 'Goks Clothes Roadshow' I didn't hesitate to ask my mum and dad if I could have the day off school to go and see the catwalk magic...After meeting up with my friend Emma, who I originally met over twitter (also a huge fan) we all waited patiently in a queue for around 5 hours. I managed to get their autographs as well as chat to them and the photographs are proudly displayed on my bedroom wall. The 5 hours wait was totally worth it and I would jump at the chance of doing it again!

Everyone loves a concert, right? Me and one of my best friends Lucy went to London to see 'The Wanted' and WOW, their stage presence was just amazing. The next day I woke up with a sore throat from all the cheering, but despite the tiredness, I soon had to get my act together because I had my second day of my 10 hour art exam to complete. We enjoyed the concert so much we have also managed to get tickets for their tour in March, which we are both really looking forward too, yay!

School trips are usually educational, well, this one was different. It was a concert at the 02 Arena, with a variety of different artists and performances. A few students from each tutor group got chosen in recognition of their hard work and dedication to a particular subject throughout the school year, I was lucky enough to be picked and got the chance to have a little bit of a rave with a few of my close friends, It was great fun! It just goes to show, the hard work is worth it in the end...getting the grades and being rewarded with a trip...Bonus!

Soon after that I then again, went to London at Soho Theatre to see Karen David (Waterloo Road Actress) sing at her gig. It was a really great night and it was lovely to see one of my close friends Ashleigh meet her idol for the second time. Karen was really lovely and made sure she made the time to meet everyone!

One day I will never ever forget, is exam results day...Oh my goodness, I have never felt so nervous in my whole life. I am not very good on exam days anyway, let alone picking them up!! Once I worked myself up so much I spent half the night bring violently sick. Lovely. As I looked at the paper and saw my grades I burst into tears, was rather happy with myself if I'm honest, I got mostly C's although for the coursework subjects such as Media, ICT and Science I got Distinctions. I only have my English exams left to do now and then I'm all set for college, I will also be taking my additional subject grades which are Finance, EPQ Business and 1 Unit of AS ICT.

Work Experience has also been a highlight of my year, not only because I got to escape school for 2 weeks, but I really enjoyed meeting new people and getting used to working in an environment that had different surroundings from my every day routine. Each day I woke up feeling really eager to get into work and completing tasks which I found interesting. I was working with a variety of people of all ages and it was great fun learning new skills that linked to the field I am hoping to get into; Media and Photography.
